founder, executive director
Tamara puts the "!" in TAMJAMS! She is the passion and creative force behind the company. Her love of dance and fitness is matched only by her desire to instill that passion in others. This fall she will be celebrating her 30 years of teaching! Tamara got her first professional job on the TV show Kids Incorporated at age 12, and by 15 she was teaching university master classes. As soon as she graduated from high school, she moved to Los Angeles with a scholarship to a prestigious dance studio. She subsequently landed some of the most coveted jobs in the industry [see full perormance bio]. In 1996, Tamara founded TAMJAMS!, with the goal of bringing high-energy, professional, inspiring workshops to studios, schools and gyms across the country and around the world. She has taught thousands of students worldwide.
Tamara created FLiP! Start With Happy! fitness program to help others STOP the CYCLE of losing and gaining over and over again. Her own personal struggle with weight--both as a professional dancer in an image-conscious industry, and later as a mother of two--is at the heart of her program. Her experiences taught her that results don't produce happiness; happiness produces results.
Tamara is currently the Director of the Jazz dance program at the University of Utah, where she also teaches Health & Wellness. Above all, she is the mother of two wonderful kids, who keep her on her toes more than pointe shoes ever could.
